Latvia Championship 2005 in flyfishing and Award of Riga Flyfishing Club challenge prize "Silver Fin".



 

General information.

This event will take place on September 24.09. 2005. on the Gauja River wich runs through Sigulda City in Riga region (Latvia).

Meeting place: in Sigulda City near hotel "SENLEJA" till 9.00 a.m. 24.09. 2005. Map can you see there.
Competition time 24. 09. 2005. from 10.00 till 16.00. 

Hosts: Latvia Angling Sports Federation (LASF) and Riga Flyfishing Club (RMK).

Participants.

Every fisherman, who has announced oneself and paid fee can take part in competition. Competitor receives competition emblem, which must be for competition time fastened on clothes in a visible place.

Rules of competition.

Competitions rules are like international rules. Allowed to fish from bank and wading. Each competitor must fish in one signed section of river. Drawing of sections will be made before competition. Allowed to use any flyfishing rod, reel and line, (normally 2,50 –3,00 m; class 4-7), which is supplied with no more than two artificial flies. Each competitor must have landing net.
Competitors can move along the river free upstream and downstream in range 100-150 m of section. Training before competition on Gauja River is not vorbidden.
It is allowed to catch all species, but grayling biger as 20 cm only.

Winners.

Result and the winner will be determined by summing all points P.
P =C x L, L -total length of fish in cm brought to a square.
For grayling C=1.0, for pike C=0.6, for others species C=0.8
For example, one grayling of 30 cm gives 900 points, 35 cm grayling – 1225 points, 50 cm pike – 900 points, 40 cm chub – 1024 points.
Separately in the same way will be determined winner of award "SILVER FIN" among Riga Flyfishing Club members.
The winner of the first place gets the honorary title of Latvia Champion in flyfishing. Winners of first three places will be awarded with medals and prizes. Also other prizes for the best flyfisherman are foreseen.
Riga Flyfishing Club challenge prize "silver fin"gets to the best competitor - Riga Flyfishing Club member.

Previous notice of attendance should be sent to LASF or Riga Flyfishing Club.

Personally on the day of competition till 09:00 o’clock.

Participiation fee for festival and competition - 20.00 EUR or 15 LVL, participations fee for festival only - 15 EUR or 10 LVL. Payment can be made in cash in day of competition. All competitors must have state fishing licence. Cost of licence - 1 LVL (or 2 EUR).

Notices

1. If you require hotel booking or other information please contact before 15. 09. 2005. The price for accommodation in hotel is appr. 20-30 EUR for one night.
    Depth of Gauja River is 0,5-3,00 m , width – 30-40 m.

2.In championship 2002. there was 133 participiants from 7 countries, the biggest grayling in competition was in championship 2000. - 46 cm, salmon (catched and released) – 3,6 kg. Record salmon in year 1998. – 36 kg (unofficial), (Gauja River), good fish from Gauja you can see there too.
